Richmond Engagement Portraits Elle &Charlie

Romantic London natural couple portrait photographer giant fern_.jpg

I've actually blogged my first blog post in six months! This has been an incredible year for me but before I get my best of 2017 post up here is one of Elle and Charlie's engagement session. These two lovely and gentle humans stole my heart from the first email, and I'll be blogging their wedding in a couple of posts so do check back. In the meantime here are my favourite images from their couple photos in amongst the forest, ferns and grasses of Richmond. They both love being outdoors and the park has a very special meaning to them. We managed to dodge the rain and walked for miles finding nooks and crannies away from the regular park visitors.

The first time we met, and during their in-person consultation, we were chatting about them booking me to shoot their wedding at York House in a few months time (and drinking gin) they told me that Richmond Park was a very special place for them, so it just felt right to go back and shoot their pre-wedding photos there.

Elle is a book illustrator and a natural beauty, I love her laid back indie style and between her and Charlie they ooze relaxed confidence. So while an engagement session is a great excuse to get dressed up, its important nor to lose sense of your own personal style. You want to be comfortable and confident, and recognise yourself in the pictures afterwards. So when couples ask me what they should wear to their shoot, I always encourage them to dress like themselves, and just consider the location and the palette of the landscape we'll be shooting in.

The grass is speaking
The sound comes tickling me in my ears
just like his voice
When he touches the grass, it slips through
his beautiful fingers and
it touches his fingertips
in such a perfect way

We don't say a word

He lies down in the summer grass
it shapes his perfect body
and strokes his defined cheekbones

It's only him, me
and the speaking grass

Here are a few lovely words from Elle & Charlie that mean the world to me:

" I think I said when we first spoke that I loved the sincerity in your work, and the way you capture the perfect moment, not the moment either side of that - and this is definitely reflected here."
