#TBT Elite Model Look 2011 | Fashion Reportage
In 2011 I was lucky enough to be asked to shoot the behind the scenes reportage for Elite London's epic Model Look competition for the UK. I love shooting behind backstage reportage at London and Paris Fashion Weeks. It's fun, cool, you're surrounded by interesting people and great clothes, and there is so much opportunity to play with light and experiment while shooting.
This post documents the day when the final group of 'would-be models' were chosen to take part in the Model Look Final Week, where they will train with the best and compete to take on the rest of the world at the Elite Model Look 2011 Final in Singapore. Chaperones wait anxiously in the waiting area while the girls wait for their turns. Waiting is a big part of a model's life. Waiting at castings, waiting at dress fittings, waiting for hair and makeup, waiting to shoot, and waiting to go on the catwalk.
I shot these images on the original Canon 5D MK1 which produced really beautiful film like images, still lovely and sharp six years later, with a beautiful quality. Unfortunately the sensor fell out during the last catwalk show of the competition, it really freaked me out at the time but happened to be a know fault and canon replaced it free of charge! I'll be posting the whole series of Finals Week in future Throwback Thursday posts so check back soon to see what it takes to win the Elite Model Look competition.
